What is a Vietnam Visa Exemption Certificate?

The Vietnam visa exemption certificate acts as a visa waiver, allowing entry and exit to Vietnam for Vietnamese citizens living overseas and foreign spouses or children of Vietnamese citizens.

This certificate functions as a visa alternative for entering Vietnam, allowing holders to visit for work purposes or to see family. The duration of stay for each entry is not exceeding 180 days (06 months).

If the visa exemption expires within 06 months, the holder can stay up to no longer than the exemption period. However, if you have a valid reason and apply for an extension, you may be granted an additional stay of up to 6 months.

Remember, to qualify for the Vietnam visa exemption certificate, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay in Vietnam. While the certificate itself is valid for 5 years, it cannot exceed the validity of your passport.
